City of Red Deer candidates speak at the Construction, Development, and Real Estate Forum
Hosted by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Central Alberta, the Red Deer Construction Association, the Central Alberta Real Estate Association and the Urban Development Institute of Alberta.
More than 120 people attended the election forum held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 to listen to 28 Councillor candidates and 4 Mayoral candidates speak on 9 questions prepared by the association membership. In addition to the 9 prepared questions, councillors were also asked to speak on questions from the floor. Questions revolved around industry concerns about rising building permit fees, delays in receiving municipal approval for developments, secondary suites, the timely release of bid information for city projects, and non-refundable deposits for city tenders.
Kevin Schropfer moderated the two and a half hour long forum which gave the candidates two minutes to respond to each question that was asked of them.
The event was filmed for members who could not attend the election forum. The link will be posted on the CHBA-CA main website and posted below. Members only have to click on the link—there are no passwords needed to access the video.
